General Idea - A restrospective 1964-1994

From Museum of Modern Art of Paris.

Founded in Toronto in 1969 by AA Bronson, Felix Partz and Jorge Zontal, the trio opted for a generic name that "freed them from the tyranny of the myth of the individual genius." Paintings, installations, sculptures and photographs, videos, magazines and TV programmes : looking back, the General Idea oeuvre seems to have subtly anticipated certain trends in the art of today.
Partz and Zantal both died in 1994 of Aids.
